You may have already read about how Vastu Shastra prefers the kitchen to be in the South East corner of a house, with stove preferably on the east wall, so that the person who cooks faces East direction.  There is a scientific reason for such a design mentioned in Vastu principles for a typical home.  Usually, Indian homes have chimneys and windows around the stove area where morning to noon sunlight falls on the stove area and food being prepared. The sunrays are beneficial to kill any germs in the food (preparation area and cooking) and supposedly the end result is better, healthy meals for the family.  The above explanation is a condensed version of scientific reasoning for such a Vastu recommendation.

Now let us look at the practical aspect of such a design in India or USA or anywhere in the Northern hemisphere of the earth, where sunlight follows a certain pattern over the house. It is difficult to insist on a kitchen design that sunlight should fall on the stove area in a town house or a multi-story apartment or even a house with an entry on the East wall.  The kitchen will have to be relocated to another location or direction inside the house.

Alternatives For South East Kitchen & Stove - Boost Positive Energy
