According to Vastu principles, the North East corner of a properly designed house (home, apartment, or building is the best place to do prayers. In some religious cultures, people face a certain direction of the supreme shrine in their faith. Regardless, it is a very energizing experience to pray or meditate facing East direction while the morning sun rays fall on your body from the windows. And Sun rays help to provide Vitamin D to the human body. That is why ancient scriptures talk about Surya Namaskar facing the east direction. Experts differ in the opinion based on their cultural background but there is straight forward answer.  The GOD can face West direction in an East side pooja mandir or pooja room, while devotes face East direction.  If that is not possible, arrange the GOD pictures to face East direction against the West wall, while devotees face West direction (like in many Hindu temples).

Vastu Defects in Pooja Room or Pooja Mandir

Some people face GOD's pictures or Pooja mandir in the North East corner of the building (house) to face South West direction. Their belief is that you are praying to North East direction for getting maximum blessings and prosperity from the Almighty.  This is incorrect.
